There has been various reports all over the web recently saying Paula Abdul was leaving American Idol. I didn’t want to believe it, but Paula came out and told the world on Twitter, that she would not be returning.
“With sadness in my heart, I’ve decided not to return to #IDOL. I’ll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all, being a part of a show that I helped from day 1 become an international phenomenon.”
I know Paula wasn’t that great of a judge, but I liked her quirkiness that she brought to the show. I am not so much of a fan of Kara, cause now we only have three strict judges, and no comedic relief. So I guess this means the only thing I have to look forward to is the non-stop “Dogs” from Randy. It won’t be the same, I shall miss you, Paula.

Tonight on American Idol, the first Top 13 ever will be singing songs from the one and only Michael Jackson. Now I love Wacko Jacko as much as the next fella, but whenever I’ve seen an idol attempt to sing one of his songs…well lets just say it’s rare for the song to do very well. Last year, David Cook did Billy Jean in his own style, and that was very good, but no matter how much they change it up, it’s still not Michael Jackson. For me it may be very difficult to give them a perfect score, but I’ll keep an open mind.
Up first was Lil Rounds with “The Way You Make Me Feel” Randy said right off the bat that he loved how she made it sound like a new song again. Kara said she wants to hear Lil on the radio someday. Paula said miss Rounds is a force to be reckonned with. Simon thought it was good, but it was a lazy song choice. For me I thought it was sung great as well, but I agree with Simon, it was a lazy song choice, I gave it 4 out of 5.
Scott McIntire was up next with “Keep the Faith.” Kara was glad they got to see him on the piano, and she is glad that he is still true to himself. Paula said it was magical and beautiful. Simon hated the song, because nobody knows that song. Randy thought the performance was good, but felt too safe. It never stops astonishing me how a blind man can play the piano so well, and learning a song in only a week. For me I have to study the keys for days before I can get anywhere close to memorizing everything. Sure, it’s about feeling the music, and you can totally tell how much Scott felt the song tonight. Though Simon was right, I didn’t know the song, but it wasn’t terrible, just didn’t care for it much. 3/5
Third up tonigh is my personal favorite, Danny Gokey singing “PYT.” Paula said she thinks he is on his way to the finals. Simon said three contestants in and he already won, also saying the vocals were brilliant. Randy loved everything. Another MJ song I haven’t heard, or rather haven’t heard a lot of. When I think of Danny, I think of a guy that sings more calm songs, so for me it was a little weird to hear him jam it up. He did a good job though, 4/5
Michael Sarver sang “You Are Not Alone.” Randy said right now, Michael is definitly one of the best performers. Kara said tonight, he proved that he can sing. This song is one of my favorites, and I’m glad Michael sang this. He’s no Michael, well he is…but not Michael Jackson, but he did a great job. 5/5
Next up was Jasmine Murray with “I’ll Be There.” Randy said he was impressed and surprised. Kara thought a half key down would have been better, but she sold it anyway. Paula said she had some bright moments, but some other moments where she was under. Simon said it was a good attempt, but a little bit robotic. I thought it was another good song, but again a 4/5.
Kris Allen took the stage next singing “Remember the Time.” Kara was happy to see Kris with his guitar, Paula said nobody knows Michael’s catalog more than him while Simon undressed her. Simon said it was interesting. Randy said he loved it, and that it was interesting. I personally enjoyed it a lot, most likely because I remember the music video Michael did to it with the whole egyptian look, very nice, 4/5.
Allison Iraheta was next in line performing “Give In To Me.” Because Allison is only 16, Paula thought the performance was mind boggling. Simon said it was a good performance and they know who she is. Randy said he always says that if they got it, then they always got it. Kara said Allison is known as the rocker and its astonishing. I thought it was done really well, even though I’m not sure if I’ve ever heard that song before. 5/5
Anoooooop Desai was up next singing “Beat It.” Paula said that song was untouchable. Simon said it was horrible, there was no aggresion. Randy said for him, it was just the wrong song choice, it was only karaoke, and he knows Anoop has more than that. Kara felt disconnected to him for the first time. Obviously the song is very famous, very popular, and in a lot of reasons it is an untouchable song. I don’t think it was terrible, I certainly had fun listening to it. 3.5/5
Jorge Nunez sang “Never Can Say Goodbye,” from the Jackson 5. Randy said it wasn’t the song he would have chosen for him, but he did a nice job. Kara said he is one of the most emotional contestants on the show, and would have liked a more emotional song. Paula said it wasn’t the right song choice. Simon said it was corny and awful, and found wanting the song to end. Yeah…the song kind of sucked. 2/5
Megan Cockery sang another Jackson 5 song, “Rockin’ Robin.” Kara said she has a way of putting her signature on anything she does. Paula says she loves the corkey and unique tone in her voice. Simon said it was a stupid song choice, the vocals and dancing were bad. Randy said the song choice didn’t allow her to be ‘Megan’. I didn’t hate it, I thought it was fun to listen to, but in the long run, the question is if I want her to be my American Idol? I don’t know if that song would help her win, so 3.5/5 again.
Adam Lambert sang “Black and White.” It is clear during this performance that Adam is Paula’s favorite. Paula has never seen anyone on the history of American Idol be so confortable on the stage. Simon said that was totally in a different league than anything they’ve ever seen. Randy said since day one, he has been current, and he loves it. Kara said Adam hit some notes she didn’t even knew existed. What can I say? Adam sure has a high pitch voice doesn’t he? Anyways, a very good performance, 5/5 all the way.
Matt Giraud was 12th to sing, with “Human Nature.” Randy said it was a very good performance. Kara said he was a talented guy, and wants to see him for many more weeks. Paula said she was blown away. Simon said it was like meat and potatoes. I don’t know…I wasn’t a fan. First of all I didn’t know the song, second of all, it sounded copycat to me towards the end, he sounded too much like Michael Jackson with all of the high pitch stuff. I have to just give it 3/5.
The 13th and final performance tonight was done by Alexis Grace singing “Dirty Diana.” Unfortunetly I missed what the judges said about the performance, but I am pretty sure that they loved it. So did I 5/5.
So here’s my predictions. There are two people leaving us tomorrow night, my guess that its one boy and one girl, so the guy, I believe will be Jorge unfortunetly, and the girl – Megan Cockery. We’ll see how my predictions do tomorrow night. Peace out.

Tonight, they are eliminating nine, count them, NINE contestants. It isn’t my place to say if that was a smart decision or not, seeing the fact that almost all 12 have more potential then they have shown, though it was certainly a risk. There are several people I don’t want to see gone, but this is life.
After the judges and contestant’s introductions, we were shown a brief recap video which really just felt like filler, than of course all 12 idols sang a group song, maybe you’ve heard of it? “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz. I thought it was very entertaining, and got me in the mood for the rest of the episode.
After commercial break, Ryan annoyed us with last night’s episode recap. After this recap, he had a chat with the contestants. At this point I am still awaiting the results. Finally, here we go with the results.
First, Ryan pulled up Casey Carlson, she sang “Every Little She Does is Magic,” After telling her she basically sucked last night, she was kicked off.
Next up was Stephen Fowler who sang “Rock With You,” Because he chose the wrong song choice, he was also booted.
Alexis Grace took the stage next. “I Never Loved A Man” was the song she sang, Alexis made it to the Top 12, and got to sit in one of the three chairs. One down, two to go. She even got to sing a victory song.
Ricky Braddy and Jackie Tohn than took the stage together. Ricky sang “A Song For You” While Jackie sang “A Little Less Conversation.” Ricky was booted off first, then Jackie followed closely behind.
Anoop Desai and Michael Sarver shared the stage next. Anoop sang “Angel of Mine,” while Michael sang “I Don’t Wanna Be.” Michael went through while Anoop then was sent home. I was all but positive Michael was going to get through. 2 out of the 3 stools are now occupied, my guess? Danny has to be the final man that gets the seat. I’d be pretty angry if Tatiana got it over him.
We then got a special treat as two former contestants from last year made a guest appearance and sang. It was Michael Johns and Carly Smithson. Now I understood that these two were pretty popular last season, but my opinions on them? Well let’s just say I understand why they got kicked off. I never really liked Michael. I always thought he was pretty annoying the way he performed. I did, however like Carly, but I always knew she was never good enough to win.
Ann Marie Boskavich stood in her seat after the commercial. She sang “Natural Woman.” Brent Keith stood up next, he sang “Hicktown” Stevie Wright then stood, she sang “You Belong With Me” last week. Though none of them went through.
The two remaining contestants, as expected were Danny Gokey and Tatiana Del Toro. I feared this would happen, but it did. They were both good, but come on, Tatiana is a pain in the butt. Yet somehow, there is ten minutes left in this episode.
With only five minutes remaining, the show returned from commercial to decide the fate of Danny and Tatiana. Who’s going through to the top 12? DANNY! Cry all you want Tatiana, you shall annoy me no more! Congratulations, Danny, you did a great job last week, and I look forward to hearing more from you!
The 3 people going through tonight are DANNY, MICHAEL, AND ALEXIS!

I know it’s been a while, but I am back again this year with recaps. Again starting with American Idol recaps. This year seems to be promising with all the new talent introduced to us. Tonight, the first group of the Top 36 performed and this is my review.
1. Jackie Tohn – “Little Less Conversation” 2/5
All judges other than Simon actually thought Jackie did a good job. However, even though I usually don’t, I have to agree with Simon. I couldn’t get into that song at all. I don’t think she is a terrible singer really, but this song didn’t fit her style. Perhaps other viewers will love her, and that’s their opinion as this is mine.
2. Ricky Braddy – “A Song For You” 4.5/5
Randy told him it was an unbelievable performance starting off the eighth season. Kara said he killed the song, which was a good thing, because it was amazing to watch. Paula said she was proud that America gets to see how talented he is. Simon said it was very good, but he wasn’t jumping out of his chair because he doesn’t think Ricky has star quality.
The only reason I gave this four and a half out of 5 stars is because Ricky does have an amazing voice. The only thing holding me back is the fact that when this episode ends, I won’t be able to remember his face, the only thing I will be able to remember is his voice, which may or may not be enough for him to move on.
3. Alexis Grace – “Never Loved a Man” 3/5
Randy is loving her right now, Kara told her she is like a genie emerging from it’s bottle. Paula thinks there is something inside of her that is large, and she is small, and Simon thinks Alexis is the best contestant so far.
I don’t know…maybe it’s not my style of music. I’ve never really enjoyed blues music before. I think that what she did with it was actually pretty good, but it didn’t feel like her style to me. She has a rock quality in her voice, and I would really like to hear that part of her. I rated it on how I personally thought of the performance, and since I couldn’t get into it, I gave it three out of five.
4. Brent Keith – “Hicktown” 4/5
Randy really enjoyed Brent’s personal style for country music and thinks he could be a great country singer. Kara thought Brent chose a safe song, Paula agreed, but Simon thought it was forgettable.
I am half half with this one. I think it is forgettable, but only because I am not a huge country fan, so that is to be expected. I don’t agree with Kara and Paula’s assesment that it was safe, I thought what he did was actually really good. He does have a pretty good voice, and I believe he has the potential to be great. Four out of five.
5. Stevie Wright – “You Belong With Me” 3/5
Randy thought it was not hot, Kara said Stevie has an identity crisis, Paula agreed with Randy and Kara, while Simon said it was terrible. I have to agree with them, it really wasn’t that great at all. The song itself wasn’t that bad, but she sang it really shakingly, like she was super nervous, which is understandable. I gave it a three out of five because of the song choice.
6. Anoop Desai – “Angel of Mine” 5/5
Randy said he was a huge fan, but it wasn’t the best performance. Kara agreed with Randy, Simon said it was too grown up, and everyone agreed with him. I actually liked it a lot. I thought it was the best performance of the night so far. I think he did an amazing job, and what came out of him was really strong, taking in the fact he was nervous.
7. Casey Carlson – “Everything She Does is Magic” 3/5
Randy said “The dog was lost.” It wasn’t good for him, it was weird, and a weird karaoke song choice. Kara said nobody tries for those kind of songs. Paula said it was the wrong choice, and Simon said it was atrocious.
I don’t think it was a terrible song, but for what it was, I didn’t really enjoy it. I think the judges were a little harsh, but if she goes through, she’ll be able to learn from her mistakes.
8. Michael Sarver – “I Don’t Wanna Be” 5/5
Randy said the beginning started off weird. Kara said she didn’t think it was Michael’s best performance. Paula gave him praise saying he did a “real good” job. Simon hopes America votes for him and gives him another chance.
Part of the reason I rated it so high is because I absolutely love this song. Though the main reason of my rating is because I truly think Michael is very talented, and will go far in life.
9. Ann Marie Boskovich – “Natural Woman” 4/5
Randy once again said it was the wrong song choice, while Kara said in order for her to win, she has to kill it. Paula said compared to Hollywood week, Ann Marie actually was better. Simon compared her as the best hotel singer, but not good enough to be the American Idol. Once again, I really enjoyed a song, while the judges did not.
10. Stephen Fowler – “Rock With You” 4/5
Randy once again said he made a wrong song choice. Kara thought he did a lot better on the piano when he forgot the words. Paula said it was the kiss of death, because Rock With You belongs to one artist, Michael Jackson. Simon wanted him to forget the lyrics, because it was terrible.
I grew up with the hits of Michael Jackson, and Rock With You is just one of the many hits that I enjoy. I think Stephen had an amazing voice, and did a great job with it. Not many times do people in American Idol sing a Jackson song and do a good job with it, and in this case, I think he did great. Maybe a bit forgettable, but it takes a lot for me to be amazed.
11. Tatiana Del Toro – “I Am Saving All of My Love For You” 4/5
Randy said he was impressed with Tatiana’s performance. Kara compared Tatiana to a roller coaster ride, but this was a very reserved version of Tatiana. Paula said Tatiana was probably the most talked about contestant this season. She also said the song was beautiful. Simon straight up called her a drama queen, and it was better than expected.
This girl. Oh my gosh. I was trying so hard to just listen to her vocal talent tonight, which in all honesty isn’t bad at all. But her personality sucks, she is very annoying. And that is not the kind of person I want to be as my American Idol. On http://votefortheworst.com, It encourages everyone to vote for her. When it comes to the song, she did a good job, but that won’t thwart my hatred towards her annoying persona.
12. Danny Gokey – “Hero” 5/5
Randy said it was blazing hot, Kara said it was incredible, Paula said it was stellar, with the phrase “sold out arenas” Simon said it was good, but not fantastic.
For the longest time, Danny has been my favorite idol. I was really worried when I heard he was going to sing a song by Mariah Carey. Guys should never sing a female’s song, I genuinely think it just sounds weird. I think Danny actually did a great job with it, but that could be favoritism speaking. Though this one time didn’t make me think any different of him, he is still my favorite, and will be voting for him once this episode ends.
So this brings us to the predictions. I only had three people with a perfect score. I believe the people that will go through are Danny Gokey, Michael Sarver, and Anoop Desai.

Wow. Tonight was really long. Two full hours, and lots of singing. Plus, we unfortunatley get to see both David’s without their pants on, but that comes later. This, is American Idol!
Tonight, there was a ton of votes. In fact, 97.5 million votes! That is a lot of teens texting! The show starts off with this year’s top 12 singing, “Get Ready.” You know, it was nice to see all those familiar faces that have left us weeks ago. For some though, I didn’t care to see, but I’m not going to name any of them, (Michael Johns, David Hernandez.) After that, the top 2 sang “Hero.” I remember this song best from the Spider-man soundtrack.
They then did a funny skit with Mike Myers as the Love Guru. Yes it was shameless promotion, but it was entertaining as well.
Then about 10 Zillion songs were sung, I’ll make a quick summary:
Syesha and Seal sang “Waiting for You.”
Jason Castro sang one of his best performances on the show, “Hallelujah”
Idol Music video “Let the Good Times Roll” Mostly bloopers from previous music vids.
Top 5 girls sing, “She Works Hard for Her Money” Donna Summer joins in on the party.
Carly Smithson and Michael Johns sing, “The Letter.”
Jimmy Kimmel does another comedic stand up routine.
Top 6 guys then sing, and Brian Adams takes the stage as well.
David Cook sings with ZZ.
Brook White sings with Graham Nash.
Jonas Brothers sing, “SOS”
Our favorite Idol failure Renaldo comes out and sings “I am your brother, best friend forever!” LOL.
One Republic sings “Apologize.” David Cook comes in to sing with.
Jordan Sparks sings something.
Carrie Underwood sings, “Last Name.”
Last but not least, the top 12 sing one last time before the results.
In between, there were also two commercials, both featuring David Cook, and David Archuleta doing the same thing, playing guitar hero with no pants. It is a copy of the famous scene of Tom Cruise dancing around in his underwear. Oh well, I still think its something I didn’t need to see.
Finally, the moment I have been waiting for all day. The winner of American Idol 2008 is…..David……..Cook!
It was interesting episode tonight. Though I think it was dragged out a bit too long. Peace Out!
Posted in American Idol on May 20, 2008 by awsumdave
Its sad to say that, yes, American Idol will be ending tomorrow night. What’s more important is the fact that David Archuleta and David Cook went head to head tonight at the massive Nokia Theatre. This, is American Idol!
Tonight’s episode started off with a humorous act featuring the “Let’s get ready to rumble” guy doing his thing, introducing the two Davids complete with boxing gear. It was funny, but they did drag the joke on way too long throughout the episode to the point where it was just boring. We learned that after David Archuleta won a coin toss, he decided he wanted to sing second.
So David Cook was up first singing Clive Davis’s song choice “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For.”
Randy thought it was a very nice song choice.
Paula said that even though David Cook hasn’t found what he’s looking for, that she has found what she was looking for.
Simon thought that his performance was phenominal.
I thought that overall, this was Cook’s best performance of the night. 5/5.
David Archuleta came up next singing, “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down.”
Randy thought this was one of David’s best performances of the season, and that it was molten hot!
Paula said she got chills.
Simon said that this was David’s best so far.
5/5
Round 1 Predictions:
1. David Archuleta 5/5
2. David Cook 5/5
David Cook took the stage again singing, “Dream Big.”
Randy said something like the song was just okay for him but, David Cook’s face was awesome!
Paula wasn’t familiar with the song, but she loved it anyways.
Simon thought this song was a little lightweight, not a winning performance.
4/5
David Archuleta’s second song was, “In This Moment.”
Randy wasn’t crazy about the song, but since Archie can sing the phonebook, it was hot!
Paula thought the song was beautiful, and heart-felt.
Simon said it was the better song choice, and he won both rounds so far.
5/5
Round 2 Predictions:
1. David Archuleta 10/10
2. David Cook 9/10
David Cook came to the stage one last time singing his song choice, “The World I Know.”
Randy likes the fact that he was showing different sides to him tonight, and thought he did a nice job.
Paula applauds David
Simon said Cook was a very nice and sincere person, but it was the wrong song choice.
4/5
David Archuleta stole the crowd for the night, singing, “Imagine.”
Randy said that the song was so good, his vocals are so good, and that is what the show is all about.
Paula was speechless. She said he was stunning tonight.
Simon said last weeks performance was just okay, but this week, David knocked it out of the ballpark.
5/5
Final predictions:
1. David Archuleta 15/15
1. David Cook 13/15
Archuleta really surprised me tonight. I really think he did a great job, and beat Cook like nothin. Unfortunatley, I think we will be seeing David Cook leave us tommorow night. Peace out!
Posted in American Idol on May 15, 2008 by awsumdave
David Cook. David Archuleta. Syesha Mercado. These are the only names left in American Idol. They are the top 3. One of them is going home tonight. This, is American Idol!
Wow. 56 million votes were cast last night. I am basically waiting for confirmination of my prediction that Syesha is going home. Everyone else was pretty much thinking the same thing, but hey, let’s just wait to see how the results turn up.
The trio came out singing, “Ain’t No Stopping Us Now.” It was an alright performance. But I’d rather get on with it, and see Syesha booted, so I can get on with the rest of my life. Then they showed the Ford music video set to “Heaven.” American Idol’s idea of heaven is apparently being filthy rich. Owning nice expensive cars, and living in mansions. I like the song though, so, cool. Fantasia, an ex-idol took the stage either singing “For Me,” or “Bore Me.” It doesnt matter though, because it certainly did bore me. Then Simon gave a really weird face. It either was saying he loved it and was stunned it was so good, or its the worse thing he has ever heard. I’m thinking it is the latter.
Finally idols were starting to walk towards Ryan. Crap, its not the results. They are just showing everyones trip home. I guess they were a little interesting. The first trip home was Archuleta’s. He was surprised to see so many people at his hometown so he started crying. Oh, and the phrase, “Gosh!” was slightly overused. Did I say slightly, I meant very overused. Almost annoying. But I like Archie.
Syeshas trip home was second, and it was very similar to Archies trip. Lots of supporters. Lots of tears of joy. Things of the like. She got to ride in a helicopter though, and told everyone that dreams come true. Ho hum. Onto Cook’s trip home.
Again. Same thing. Lots of people. Waterfall of tears. This time he chose to surprise his elementary school music teacher. How cute. Anyways!
Yes! Its time for the results. Cue the cheesy dramatic music! Now, the two people going head to head in the finale will be……David Archuleta (crowd cheers) and…….David Cook! (crowd cheers.) Aww. Syesha is going BACK home.
Don’t cry, Syesha. We’re running out of time.
Sorry, but you know as well as everyone else that we have been waiting to see the two Davids battle it out for months, so yeah. Its for the best. Peace out!

It’s a big night tonight for the idols. Each contestant has to sing a full whopping three songs each. The songs are chosen by the Judges, Producers, and the Idols themselves. So let’s get right on with it:
The idols sang judge’s choice first. David Archuleta was up first singing, “And So it Goes.” Paula chose this song. Interesting enough, the song was presented to David by Mr. Moustache, the mayor of his hometown.
Randy thought it was dope!
Paula said it was a pure, stunning performance.
Simon said it was very good, but a bit predictable.
I gave it a 5/5.
Syesha Mercado was up second singing Randy’s choice, “If I Ain’t Got You.”
Randy said she did an amazing job.
Paula said she was proud of her.
Simon said she sang it very well.
I gave it 5/5. This is Syesha’s best performance of the night in my opinion.
David Cook was last to the stage singing Simon’s song choice, “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face.”
•Randy loved it towards the end, but wanted more rock.
•Paula said that song was one of her all time favorite songs.
•Simon said that this was one of David’s best performances ever.
Again, very well done. 5/5
Round 1 Predictions:
1. David Cook 5/5
2. David Archuleta 5/5
3. Syesha Mercado 5/5
True all of them had a perfect score for me, but if I had to decide, this would be my decision. On to round 2: Contestants choice.
David Archuleta was up first. His song choice was, “With You.”
•Randy wasn’t sure if this was the right song for him.
•Paula said it was perfect.
•Simon said it was like Chewbaca trying to be a tiger. What?
For me, I didn’t like this song as much as the first. 4/5
Syesha’s choice for rind to was “Fever.”
•Randy thought it was a great performance.
•Paula said she was surprised. But it didn’t capture Syesha as an artist.
•Simon said that he thinks she will regret singing that tonight.
Yeah. I wasn’t so thrilled with that song. 3/5
David Cook’s choice was Switchfoot’s “Dare You to Move.” Sweet, I love this song.
•Randy said it wasn’t his best performance.
•Paula said it was too short, and was left wanting more.
•Simon said it was just an okay song for him.
I loved it. 5/5
Round 2 Predictions:
1. David Cook 10/10
2. David Archuleta 9/10
3. Syesha Mercado 8/10
Syesha needs to step it up, if she wants to keep going. Round 3: Producers choice.
David Archuleta took the stage again singing, “Longer.”
•Randy said it was another hot song by Archie!
•Paula said it was lovely
•Simon said he sang it well, but the song itself had gooey lyrics. ?
Eh. It was alright. 4/5
Syesha Mercado sang “Hit Me Up.”
•Randy said it was just okay for him.
•Paula said that song didn’t define her either.
•Simon said it was better than the first song, but it was forgettable.
Bleh. I’d rather stare at a wall. 3/5
David Cook took the stage next, singing, “I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing.”
•Randy said it was just okay, and that it was predictable.
•Paula loved it.
•Simon said that David Cook won the night.
Amazing. Best song of the night, 5/5.
Round 3: Final Predictions
1. David Cook 15/15
2. David Archuleta 13/15
3. Syesha Mercado 11/15
Sorry to say it, but we’ll probably be saying goodbye to the only girl still standing. Sorry Syesha.
So as many of you know, Jason Castro did a horrible job last night. So I, as well as most of the rest of the world, was expecting Jason to go home tonight. So what is the point really, in watching tonight? Well as you also may know, the group always does a group song, and there are always guest stars, so what the heck, I’ll watch it.
Looks like a total of 51 million votes came in last night. So that’s why the primary elections didnt get much votes… Anyways here we go. The group all came out singing “Reelin’ in the Years.” it wasn’t horrible, but it was more of a whatever song. On to the results!
David Archuleta came out first, and of course, he was safe. Best singer of the night last night.
David Cook came out secondly, he was also safe.
Jason and Syesha were last to the stage, but like last week, had to wait till the end of the episode to see who’s going home. I’m still thinking Jason Castro, but I’ve been wrong before in surprising turn of events. Much like Carly’s departure.
Then we get the half-time show with Maroon 5 and Bo Bice. Maroon 5’s song was actually pretty boring. Bo Bice’s song was better, but I’d rather just see the results. Some girl asked David Cook out in the questionnaire, to which he said, “We’ll see.” Then of course the Ford commercial with the song, “Ring of Fire.” then finally, back to the results.
Jason Castro and Syesha took the stage once more and drumroll please…..Jason is sent home tonight. Not a surprise at all.
Tonight on American Idol, the top 4 sang songs from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Tonight, Paula seemed sober for once! Anyways, let’s get right on with it.
David Cook was up first, singing, “Hungry Like the Wolf.” Right away, I thought this performance was a little weak. I love the actual song, but to me it just looked like he didn’t care how good he did. Like he was just standing there, singing.
•Randy said it was just okay for him.
•Paula said “Hungry like the Wolf” left her with an appetite.
•Simon said it was good, but a bit copycat.
Like I said, I was a bit bored with the performance. 3/5
Second up was Syesha Mercado singing, “Proud Mary.”
•Randy said it was in the zone.
•Paula said she looked like a star.
•Simon said was like a bad shrieky version of Tina Turner.
I have to agree with Randy, I gave her 4/5.
Jason Castro took the stage next singing, “I Shot the Sheriff.”
I have a question for everyone. Who out there can say, “Boring!” Snore, what a boring song.
•Randy said it was very karaoke.
•Paula liked how he sang to the audience, but she didn’t like the performance.
•Simon said it was atrocious.
2/5. Worst song of the night.
David Archuleta came up next, singing “Stand By Me.”
A very nice song, I thought he did really well.
•Randy said that everytime David takes the stage, he gives a hot performance, and he thinks he will win the whole thing.
•Paula said he delivered it perfectly
•Simon said it was the best performance so far.
5/5. Best song of the night.
After the first round, my preliminary predictions are:
1. David Archuleta
2. Syesha Mercado
3. David Cook
4. Jason Castro
Here we go, round 2:
David Cook returns to the stage with, “Baba O’Riley”
•Randy said this was the David Cook that we love.
•Paula said she wanted more.
•Simon said, “Welcome back, David Cook.”
4/5.
Syesha was up again, singing “A Change is Yet to Come”
What is up with this? Whatever happened to rock & roll? This crap is slow!
•Randy said he didn’t like it as much as the first song.
•Paula just stood up and clapped.
•Simon agreed with Paula.
I agree with Paula and Simon as well. 4/5
Mr. Castro came up again singing “Mr. Tamborine Man.”
Poor Jason! The song was sounding a whole lot better than his last song, then he screwed up big time by forgetting lines.
•Randy didnt know what was up with Jason tonight, cause he wasn’t in his zone at all.
•Paula said, “It is what it is.”
•Simon told Jason to pack his suitcase. Ouch!
Yeah it was crappythat he forgot lines. But I still liked what he did with it better than his first song. 3/5
Archie was last tonight singing “Love Me Tender.”
•Randy said it was a great performance.
•Paula said it was one of her favorites ever of Davids because she could feel his heart in the song.
•Simon said he crushed the competition. Which is a good thing.
I liked it, not as good as the first, so 4/5.
My Final Predictions:
Same as before:
1. David Archuleta
2. Syesha Mercado
3. David Cook
4. Jason Castro
Jason is all but guaranteed to get voted off tomorrow. Peace out!
