Category: American Idol

Dun Dun Dun! It is that time again folks! To knock off Casey James, oh I mean what? It’s time to find out who will be going head to head in the epic finale next week. My money is on Crystal and Lee with Crystal taking home the grand prize, but we’ll see.

Turns out 47+ million votes came in last night. When Ryan sat down and spoke to the contestants, Casey told him he never expected to go very far in the show, well…you did, but not as far as the top 2…I don’t think of course.  The questions then went on…and on….and on.

We then saw Casey’s going home videos where girls were freaking out over him, including a flirty anchor woman. He went to the hospital to visit the people who saved his life….at some point in time when be had short brown hair.

Then some guy named Travis Garland sung a song. Supposedly better than Justin Timberlake, but that’s a load of crap…he wasn’t really that great.

We then go to Ohio to the home of Crystal Bowersox. There she went to an event called Bowerstock. Then Lee went home to Chicago. Where he teared up at his old school and job.

After the break, I skipped Justin Bieber, because he is pretty much Aaron Kelly: The Human Turd. Anyways, onto the results.  After recalling all the songs that were sung and how the judges reacted, we learn the first person safe is Lee Dewyze. Then Crystal Bowersox found out a few seconds later that she was also safe, just as I suspected.

Oh boy, tonight’s the night the top three perform, and there is no more Aaron Kelly, so it should be good.  We got Casey James, Crystal Bowersox, and Lee Dewyze.  My ultimate prediction is Crystal as the next American Idol, but we will see. This week they sing their own choice and judge’s choice.

Casey James was up first with “Ok, it’s alright with me”, which was his choice.  So the show started off with a song I’ve never heard for, nor really cared about, not exactly a way to start off with a bang.  He did an alright job for me. Not exactly idol-worthy though…3.5/5

  • Randy said it was just alright for him too.
  • Ellen said this is the moment, live or die…she felt the same way, she wished he would have brought it.
  • Kara said it is hard to pick a song that everybody knows, and when he picks a song that is a first listen for a lot of people, it won’t go very well.
  • Simon said he hopes there is something more substantial better later, because if this was the only song of the night, it would be a dud.

Crystal Bowersox was up next with her choice of song, which was “Come to My Window.” It would seem like the second song of the night is another song I don’t know, but it’s more popular than the previous performance, and overall she did a way better job.  I could see her doing this song professionally for her own concert, which is pretty good, not amazing, but not bad. 4/5

  • Randy said YO, SO LISTEN, I didn’t love the arrangement, but I did love the vocal on it, saying it all worked out in the end.
  • Ellen said it was a good song choice, and it was great.
  • Kara said it was a good vocal, but she is capable of so much more.
  • Simon agreed with everyone, saying it could have been better, but he has respect for her for never compromising herself as an artist.

It was Lee Dewyze’s turn to choose a song, which was “Simple Man”.  Yet again, a third song I’ve never heard before, but maybe I should have, not only because it is a good song, but because it is by the Skynyrd man. I think this is the only song of the three idol-chosen songs that fit best, and was the best…I don’t know, could be wrong…4.5/5

  • Randy said he sounded amazing, and in the winning zone
  • Ellen compared him to an animal or something
  • Kara said he did exactly what everyone should do tonight, and round 1 goes to Lee.
  • Simon said it was absolutely on the money.

It is now time for the judges to pick songs for the contestants, and to see everyone’s time in their hometown, Casey James was up first with “Daughters”, picked by Randy and Kara. The first song of the night that I actually recognize.  Definitely a better song choice then his own earlier in the episode, and I think he did a great job with it.  Though it did feel a little sleepy, we’ll see how the judges react.  4/5

  • Randy said it fit him like a glove
  • Ellen thought it was beautiful, and liked it a lot.
  • Kara said this showed the more artistic side of him, and it is really where he shines.
  • Simon said it was a much better song choice then the first time, but it was a little bit of a lazy assortment, but he sounded very very good with it.

Next up was Crystal Bowersox with Ellen’s choice, “Maybe I’m Amazed”.  Apparently she chose the song to show Crystal’s range, and to surprise everyone.  I do know this song, and I think she did a great job with it, maybe a few problems here and there, but I think better than Lee’s first choice song, other than Crystal going on about how she might be a man…4.5/5

  • Randy said great song, great vocals, and somebody else in it, to win it.
  • Ellen said she couldn’t have asked for more
  • Kara said she didn’t change it up so much, but she said she heard more from her than they’ve ever heard before.
  • Simon said he was surprised at first about the song choice, but now he gets it, and it proves that she has soul, and after next week, she may be thanking Ellen for putting her in the final.

Simon picked the last song of the night for Lee Dewyze, which was “Hallelujah”, which has been done a lot in the show previously, but whenever it is done, it is done amazingly.  So I can’t expect anything less than a 5/5.

  • Randy  said he was waiting the whole season for…that, and he thinks this was his biggest moment, and was unbelievable.
  • Ellen said there was nothing more to be said, that it was just stunning.
  • Kara said Lee is what the show is all about, and is the heart of the season.
  • Simon said with that performance he proved he is a fantastic singer, and a great person.

So what is my prediction for who is going to make the top 2? Obviously Lee and Crystal, but the overall winner is a tough choice.  I think I would still go for Crystal.

So yeah, Casey,  we’ve had enough of you , go home.

AMERICAN IDOL: Top 4 Elimination | Recap

Alright, its results night on American Idol.  Last night, my predictions stated Casey James was the one that is going to leave tonight, with Big Mike in 3rd place.  We’ll see how it turns out tonight. Fantasia was the first singer to take the stage tonight. I  sure hope it’s not another night filled with random singers. “Put the Message in the Box” was the new Ford Music Video

So next week is the week where the top three get to go home for a day and see their family and supporting town, always fun.  So the results begin, Ryan talked about the duets first, and they found Casey safe! Casey wasn’t that great, guys! Just okay.

Daughtry was up on the stage next doing a little ditty.

Big Mike was up next for judgment, or never mind, cause we moved right along to Lee Dewyze and Crystal, reminding us of what they sang and how they were judged, then Lee was sent to safety with the phrase “Lee, you’re heading back to Chicago.” So Crystal or Big Mike? Duh? Big Mike is going home.

Bon Jovi was up on the stage next doing a little ditty as well.

Back to the final results, and random people on the couch. I’m pretty much sure Big Mike’s going to go home, I’d die if it was Crystal.  And 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, yup. Crystal is in, Big Mike = gone.

It’s American Idol time again, and you know what that means! We can really get started now that the Human Turd is gone! This week has something to do with duets.  Whether they will be singing with each other, or with other singers is beyond me, I guess we shall find out. Jamie Fox is our mentor this week. Well I guess they will be singing together, which will be interesting to find out how the voting works.

Well, I am confused, because Lee Dewyze was the first one out, singing “Kissed by a Rose” with…no one.  I thought this was duets…I don’t know whatever. Anyways, a great song to sing, not as great as last week, but still fun song. 4/5

  • Randy said he did nothing with the song, and was just OK.
  • Ellen loved it
  • Kara said it was one of the most difficult songs to sing, and having the arrangement the way it was, there was issues, but can’t take away from the fact that he is still great.
  • Simon said he was Randy with this.

Big Mike was up next with Michael Jackson’s “Will You Be There”. Hard to impress me when it is a MJ song.  I think he did a good job.  But not anywhere near MJ.  4/5

  • Randy didn’t love this either
  • Ellen said it was predictable
  • Kara said she didn’t feel that from him, and wanted more.
  • Simon couldn’t understand how the song was connected to a movie about a whale with the name “Willy”

Lee and Crystal sang one of my all-time songs sung in a movie, “Falling Slowly” from Once.  They pretty much stayed true to the original, the duet part was a tad different then the film, but still pretty darn good, 5/5.

  • Randy – said it was a great song, and loved it.
  • Ellen said it was great
  • Kara said it was one of her favorite moments of the entire season
  • Simon said it was a fantastic song.

Casey James was next with “Mrs. Robinson.” A song I’ve never heard before. I am not so sure what I think about this one…I don’t think it’s anything special. I’m going to give him a low score for this one 3.5/5

  • Randy said it was just a cool laid back version of the song, and he wasn’t going anywhere with it.
  • Ellen liked how he changed it up.
  • Kara said it was a good choice
  • Simon didn’t think the song or performance had the substance needed.

Crystal Bowersock was up next with “I’m alright” Another song I’ve never heard before, but I think she did a good job with it.  I actually enjoyed it, so I’ll give her a….4.5/5

  • Ellen said she took the song and made it better.
  • Kara completely agreed with Ellen
  • Simon said after the performance, she is back in the game.

Casey James and Big Mike sang a duet next with “Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman”. Yet another song I’ve never heard, either that, or only heard it once when I was really young, and just forgot I’ve ever heard it.  Regardless, the song for me was just okay. 4/5

  • Randy said it was really great.
  • Ellen said as a matter of fact, she really has loved a woman
  • Kara the duets tonight were incredible.
  • Simon said it was done really well, and they deserve Jamie Fox’s shirts.

Sorry I didn’t give you guys a recap yesterday.  I won’t get into it, but long story short, I couldn’t make a recap because it had to do something about a hot concert, a hot car, and a cold house. Anyways, it was interesting night last night. Frank Sinatra? Weird choice for American Idol.  My bottom three were actually Crystal, Casey and Aaron, with Aaron as my predicted contestant leaving.  My favorite was Big Mike, then Lee. We’ll see how it goes.

32 million votes were sent in last night. Our Top 5 singers had a medley of several Sinatra songs.  “1, 2, 3 4” was this week’s Ford Music Video. Lee Dewyze was the first to stand in the middle of the stage.  I say he is very safe, the judges told him he could win the show with his performance last night…I disagree.  I think it was only alright, I think I have seen far better from him. In the long run, I was right, Lee was safe.

After the commercial break, Lady GooGoo GaGa, took the stage with a mash up of “Bad Romance” and “Alejandro”. Why does she have to look so weird all the time? We then find out next week will be “Songs from the Movies.” I look forward to that. And then our mentor from last night sang a tune. Then the top 5 sang some of his songs.

Crystal was up next for judgment.  Crystal was my third down the list, leaving her in the bottom 3 for me.  Big Mike was next, and for me he is completely safe.  Aaron Kelly was next, and for me, he’s in the bottom three, and going home.  He joined Big Mike though, don’t know what’s up.  Casey James was up next, and he is my third on the bottom three. So he stood next to Crystal, I have no idea what’s going on now.  Big Mike and Aaron Kelly are the bottom 2.  *CROSSES FINGERS* The person going home tonight is…….AAAARRROOOONNNN Yesssssssss, my life is complete. It’s about darn time. Take that 12 year old girls saying he’s gonna be the next American Idol, you can go back to listening Justin Bieber, the other Human Turd. HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO

Turn on your TV’s, and up the volume people. It is time for American Idol, and it is time that American Idol gives back to me, and kicks Aaron off! Too bad we don’t know till tomorrow right, but let’s all cross our fingers!

This week our fun singers will be singing from Shania Twain’s songbook, and of course she is going to be the mentor. Which means one thing, country night, and I don’t like country.  I’ll be okay with country if it can make Aaron look bad, but week after week, everything makes Aaron look bad, and the Justin Bieber fans keep bringing him back, those twerps.

Lee Dewyze is the first one up night.  “Still the One” is the song he decided to sing. Good song, and I think Lee made it better, but this is coming from a biased country-hater. He made it rocky, and I liked it. 4.5/5

  • Randy said this is another one of his favorite songs of all time, and loved how he made it his own.
  • Ellen also loved how he made it his own, and the same goes for every song he chooses.
  • Kara likes the sound of his voice with every song.
  • Simon said that was the perfect song to choose out of his song choice. But he was making some weird faces.

Big Mike was up next with “It Only Hurts When I’m Breathing.” Another nice song choice from the teddy bear. 4/5

  • Randy said he did a great job and he was really in the zone.
  • Ellen said she was nervous about the choice, but she thought it was beautiful.
  • Kara said he was really connected with the song, and it was beautiful and his own.
  • Simon said the performance was wet and girly.

Casey James was the third guy to take the stage, with “Don’t!” An interesting song choice by Casey, and he did a great job with it.  This is one song I’ve never heard before, and it sounded like his own, then again, it could completely be copycat, but it SOUNDED like his own. 4.5/5

  • Randy said it was one of the best Casey James performances ever.
  • Ellen said she was going to say the same exact thing, and might be the best to date.
  • Kara said he didn’t hide, and was himself completely.
  • Simon said something, but the tv kept screwing up, so I didn’t hear it.  But I believe he agreed with Randy.

Crystal Bowersox is up next with “No One Needs to Know” at this point the TV signal is really messing up, so I am only getting about half of the actual performance, so if she sucks and I didn’t hear it…my bad.  It sounded good… :/  4/5

  • Randy made a lot of arm movements
  • Ellen said it wasn’t her favorite performance
  • Kara said it always feels honest and believable, not the best but she’s always amazing.
  • Simon said “we don’t like crystal this week.” And that it was limp.  Well tell you what, everyone else said she was amazing, and Randy’s arm movements looked positive.

Justin Bieber’s favorite Idol, the Human Turd, was up next singing “You Got Away.” Meh…it was ok. 3.5/5.

  • Randy said dude you did a really good job.
  • Ellen said this is gonna be tough, cause everyone is good.
  • Kara said she completely agrees with Ellen.
  • Simon said he’s been struggling for week, and tonight he was a different artist.

Siobhan Magnus was the last one up singing “Any Man of Mine.” Hey, I remember this song, this is one of the country songs I rarely like.  I liked where she was going with it, there were some bad parts in it, but I think overall, she did a good job with it.  4/5

  • Randy loved it
  • Ellen said it was a good way to end the show, fantastic.
  • Kara asked guess who’s back? Siobhan!
  • Simon thought the song was perfect, but the screaming at the end was almost like giving birth.

Okay so predictions time.  I don’t know, I’m at a crossroads, my bottom three would be Aaron, Siobhan and…maybe Big Mike with Aaron leaving us *knock on wood*

Yeah I’m gonna skip everything and get to the point.  The Human Turd again was saved again and Tim Urban was kicked off.  I hate this show

Crap. It’s give back week. I. Don’t. Care. I’m here to listen to music, not listen to an infomercial about a charity. Charities should be standalone. American Idol should be a singing competition, that’s it. Plain and simple.

Ok so this weeks theme is inspirational songs with mentor Alicia Keys. If I were a contestant, I would personally choose my own song, Cheezy Inspirational, which you can listen to athttp://myspace.com/cheezyinspirational.

Casey James is up first with “Don’t Stop”. Fun song, and an oldy, Casey does his thang, and plays the guitar like a pro.  Pretty good performance, and one of his better performances. 4.5/5
•Randy said it was good, but not his best. Wants something more special.
•Ellen liked the guitar playing. But she wants him to be great.
•Kara said something very similar to Ellen
•Simon said it was a lazy song choice, and not inspiring.

Lee Dewyze, the former paint salesman was up next with “The Box”. A song that I’m not familiar with, but a very nice song, an a very nice performance by Lee, and probably my favorite from him. 5/5
•Randy said he was a great artist
•Ellen said great song choice, and best performance so far.
•Kara said he bad his moment tonight.
•Simon says that was the best of the night, even though they were only two in.

Tim Urban was up next singing “Better Days” A very nice song, I’m a fan of the original song, but I think Tim didn’t quite match that, but I give him an A for effort, 4/5
•Randy said it was just okay/karaoke.
•Ellen compared him to ba soup.
•Kara thought this is where he belongs, but it didn’t work for him this time.
•Simon said it was difficult to believe the performance, and a let down.

The Human Turd was up next with “I Believe I Can Fly.” He probably only knows the song from Space Jam.  Let’s cut to the chase, screaming 12 year old girls that are Justin Bieber fans, and unenthused guys. 3.5/5. I’m pretty much done with the human turd.
•Randy said be did a good job with a giant song.
•Ellen said he can fly and he’s on his way.
•Kara said it was like taking off.
•Simon said he gave it his all, but if he hear it on the radio, he would turn it off within 10 seconds.

Siobhan Magnus was up next singing “When You Believe”.  The song I first heard in ‘The Prince of Egypt.’ I remember it being a great song when I heard it first.  I haven’t heard a ton of covers by other bands, so it was nice hearing this version.  So she does a great song as usual, screaming in the middle, and then finishing it on a nice note.  Good.  4/5

  • Randy said she probably picked one of the toughest songs on the list, and it was just okay.
  • Ellen disagreed, and said it was just more confirmation of why she’s here.
  • Kara said this isn’t a musical, so it feels too dramatic.
  • Simon said he agreed with Randy, saying it wasn’t the right song with her.

Big Mike will be singing “Hero”, sung by the lead singer in Nickelback. This is a hard song not to sound amazing; you’d have to really suck at singing.  In other words, you’d have to be the Human Turd. Anyways, Big Mike did a very nice job, and I give him 4.5/5

  • Randy said he was really worried about the song choice, but he held his own, and it worked out.
  • Ellen said he did a great job.
  • Kara said it wasn’t her favorite performance of his.
  • Simon said he thought he sang it very well, but the theme was inspirational, and that was about Spider-Man.

Crystal Bowersox, my favorite is singing “People Get Ready.” This is the second performance of the night which I didn’t recognize, but she did another perfect performance.  Not my favorite of her performances, but she did a good job nonetheless.  She ended up tearing up at the end too, good stuff.  5/5.

  • Randy said it was unbelievable, and gave her a standing ovation.
  • I missed what Ellen said.
  • Kara said she just schooled all the contestants.
  • Simon said that was inspirational, and was happy to see her emotional, because she was closed off a lot, and this obviously meant a lot.

Who is going to leave tomorrow? Turd.  Please be The Human Turd.  Peace out!

Yay. It is time to kick two contestants off tonight on American Idol. Who will it be? Who know, my fingers and toes are crossed for Aaron to take the plunge, but who knows? Tonight is sure to be interesting, so pop some popcorn, lean back, and watch some Idol.

Another unneeded epic action-film soundtrack started the night out before were told over 34 million votes were sent in. The top 9 then sang a medley of Elvis songs.

After our next Ford Commercial, we get to the intense part, Casey James stood first, as well as Aaron and Andrew, moving to the center of the stage.  Right away Andrew was sent home, and Aaron lives to see another day…NOOOOOOO AMERICAN IDOL SUCKS. Freaking staged show.

So who could be the second contestant to leave? I can’t really think of anyone else that deserves it more then Aaron, but nooooooo, I don’t know, I wouldn’t care if Katie left, but we’ll see.

Idol Gives Back is next week, oh boy. Anyway, one of my favorite idols, Brooke did a little ditty. Back to business, the whole bottom row stoo on the stage. Which is the rest of the contestants. He sent Crystal to safety, then did the same for Siobhan.  Lee was also safe. Now the remaining three have to wait for Scary Lambert to perform before they heard the results. After everyone had some time to recover from all the fog, we moved on to hear the results.

The person who was safe was Tim Urban, leaving it between Big Mike and Katie. I guess Katie, I am right. Yay, I got one right! Till next one folks, peace.

It’s that time again, folks.  It’s time for a bunch of amateur people who think they are cool try to prove that they are cool.  Seeing the direction FOX is going, I wouldn’t be surprised if Crystal Bowersox got kicked off this week. I mean seriously, has anyone seen yesterday’s 24? I could talk for hours about how ridiculous it was seeing it’s the final season, but HEY, we’re talking about American Idol, so…ughgugh.

Well because Big Mike was saved, it means two people will be leaving tomorrow, and I’m crossing my fingers that it will be Aaron Kelly.  Please God, intervene! Anyway, on with the show, this week our favorite people will be singing from the songbook of Elvis Presley, the king of rock & roll. Well my Grandma would be happy, but what about me? What about the rest of the world? We’ll see. The mentor will be Adam Lambert, a perfect choice, seeing how Adam knows SO much about Elvis.  Okay, maybe rock.

In the audience tonight is the cast of Glee, which I wouldn’t mind singing on stage.  Crystal Bowersox started the night with a bang with “Saved”.  One of the Elvis songs I’m not familiar with, but kind of sounds like a black gospel song…maybe that’s just me…she did a great job as usual, but not the best for me. 4.5/5

  • Randy said that’s how you do it, it was dope.
  • Ellen said she was fantastic.
  • Kara said it was another solid performance
  • Simon loved how she didn’t choose an obvious song, and chose a song that fit her, and it sounded great.

Andrew Garcia, our nose picker of the night, was up next with “Hound Dog” Adam Lambert thought he might be a bit boring, we’ll see.  I’ve heard this song way too much to even think of it believable out of anyone else’s mouth, so I have to agree with Adam Lambert, Snooze. 3/5

  • Randy said it was definitely not good, and karaoke.
  • Ellen wished he put more swagger in it, and thought he pulled it off.
  • Kara said it’s Elvis, and he had to own it.
  • Simon said it was lazy and unpredictable.

After Ryan Seacrest had a little chat with his momma, Tim Urban was next with “Can’t Stop Falling in Love” Well Adam thought it was pretty, and it did sound good, until her told Tim to do the higher octave, then it just sounded wrong. Thankfully, Tim stuck within his safe voice zone.  This was a very believable performance, and I really liked it. 4.5/5

  • Randy actually liked it.
  • Ellen compared Tim to tequila.
  • Kara said it was her favorite “Tiim” performance ever.
  • Simon said it was beautiful and went from Zero-Hero

Lee Dewyze was our next contestant to take on the King with “A Little Less Conversation”. I thought this was just okay.  Parts of it sounded robotic, monotone-like.  Elvis did it just right, obviously, but I just don’t know about Lee. 4/5

  • Randy said he was in the zone, very good.
  • Ellen said it sounded very current
  • Kara said she loved how he just went for it vocally. She wished it was a little lighter.
  • Simon made fun of Kara, then said that was on the money.

Immediately after, Aaron Kelly was up….DO I HAVE TO LISTEN? Ughghghguhghghgugghghhgughghg. Well his song was “Blue Suede Shoes” I hope he chokes and trips.  Let me tell you a story, we have a home video that we made when I was 3 years old, and my older brothers were dancing in front of the camera to this song, this performance reminded me of that.  A kid that is a fan of Elvis, and thinks they are cool.  Bleh, 3.5/5  *crosses fingers – leave tomorrow, leave tomorrow*

  • Ryan said it was half-and-half for him.
  • Ellen gave him an A-for-effort.
  • Kara liked that he was out of his comfort zone
  • Simon said it was-what it was, and was karaoke.

Siobhan Magnus was up next singing “Suspicious Minds” Mr. Lambert thought it was sleepy, so he sped the song up to wake the judges up.  I’m a fan of Siobhan, and she proved herself again tonight, very nice. 4.5/5.

  • Randy loved the vocals.
  • Ellen liked the second half of the song better than the first.
  • Kara said it’s getting confusing, because Siobhan has two voices.
  • Simon said it was like she came back from a time machine. He thought the first part of the song was terrible, and even when she got to the second half, that she didn’t quite reach it.

Big Mike was next up, so we’ll see if his save was worth it.  “In the Ghetto” was his song.  Another song of Elvis’s that I’m not familiar with.  That being said, I think Big Mike really pulled it off, and it might be my favorite performance of his. 5/5

  • Randy  said it was a little sleepy, but they were hot vocals.
  • Ellen was glad they saved them.
  • Kara said it was a beautiful song, and he did it well.
  • Siimon said it was a billion billion times better than last time.

Katie Stevens was up next with the song “Baby, What Do You Want Me to Do?” I think for the most part she is the one contestant in the show that gives me the most neutral reaction.  Yeah…she sang it well…but I really couldn’t care less. 4/5

  • Randy said nice vocals.
  • Ellen said man you can sing, that was great.
  • Kara said she showed us judges.
  • Simon said it was really loud and annoying.

Casey James was the contestant singing us out tonight with “Laudie Miss Claudie” So about a third of the songs sang tonight were songs I’ve never heard before.  Good Job, but again, he’s above Katie Stevens for me, but still so-so for me.  4/5

  • Randy said yo-yo.  Another solid performance.
  • Ellen agreed, saying it wasn’t as exciting as she wished, but it was solid.
  • Kara wants to see more personality.
  • Simon said it was completely forgettable, but the vocal was good.
