HOUSE: 5.03 – Adverse Events – Recap

Posted in House on October 1, 2008 by awsumdave

Let’s all shout for joy, because House is back.  Who’s the patient of the week? Jon Arbuckle.  Well, that’s who the actor played in Garfield, but in this episode he plays a very talented painter, who sucks at painting one day, so obviously there’s something terribly wrong with him right? RIGHT!

Theory #1 – Brain Tumor

“IT’S NOT A TUMA!” ~ Arnold Schwarzenegger

Well, that’s what the tests proved…duh.  House knew it was because they guy was on drugs.  Not just any drugs either.  The guy was a Guinea pigs for unapproved drugs that would be used at drug stores.

Theory #2 – Put him on dialysis!

Well this one didn’t work out too well either, because before you knew it, Jon’s neck began to blow up like a balloon.  Quite entertaining really, but if it were me?  eeesh!

Theory #3 – Put him back on those unapproved drugs!

This plan actually worked for a little bit, until Jon’s hormones shot through the roof.

Theory #4 – Give him an MRI!

This was the final step.  The MRI showed that Jon had arrhythmia, which explained all the things that happened to him throughout the episode. House figured out at the very end, that his problem, was that he had a huge hairball-like thing in his stomach which was collecting the drugs he was taking.  Then the next day it would spill out into his stomach, giving him weird problems.  Awesome.

As for the separate storyline this episode:  House is still having fun with his newest friend, the private investigator guy.  Is this guy supposed to be the new replacement for Wilson?  I don’t know, I like his character and everything, but I do miss Wilson.  No worries though, because Wilson will be back next week, you’ll see!  Anyways, he had the PI dig up information on all his students, and the main issue was Taub’s wife had a secret bank account that she didn’t tell him about.

At first he said he wasn’t going to pry into his wife’s life, because they like their life the way it is.  Well, it got to him, and he eventually talked to her about it, it seemed she had the account because she bought him a new car! Lol, funny stuff, but now he felt guilty about keeping a secret from her, so at the end, he decided to tell her the secret.  We just have to wait and see how their relationship goes in future episodes.

Also, the PI guy asked Cuddy out, lol, and she actually went with him.  His deal was she would have a date with him if he could dig up something dirty on House.  He found a picture of House cheerleading, at first they thought it was doctored, but then he learned that at the end, House really was a cheerleader! lol, I’m sorry, I just can’t picture that!

HOUSE: Dying Changes Everything – Recap

“You mind if I come in?” “Not at all, you mind if I leave?” ~ House making yet another smart remark.

It is time, Medical Show Enthusiasts of the World Unite! House is back and better than ever. Actually, let me rephrase.  It is just as good as it always is.  The episode kicks off two months after season 4 left us.  Amber is still dead, and House is still a jerk.  This episode was actually very interesting, it kicked off introducing us to a woman who started hallucinating seeing several ants crawl over her body.  Nasty. They brought her in, and as usual, the team comes up with several explanations of what it could possibly be.

One of the major explanations was that she was pregnant, but after a quick look see inside her stomach, there wasn’t any visible sign of a child.  House walked up to the patient and started slabbing goo on her, to which she replied in a hilarious way, “Hey, who are you??” House pointed out that she was in fact pregnant, her baby was just inside her………rectum.  So unfortunately, the team had to extract it, in other words, an abortion.

The baby turned out just to be a coincidence, because the woman continued to have problems.  Everyone knows that in an episode of House, hes right, but is really wrong, he guesses, he makes a mistake, and then finally at the end, he gets it right, and is praised.  So it comes to no surprise when we hear she had more complications.  House figured out in the end of the episode that she had a case of “Pretty Leprosy,” or something like that.  Then all was well.

I’d like to now explain the dramatic overall storyline of the episode.

After two months away from being away from the office, Wilson returned, only to explain that he is running away from his problems.  He said he’s only back for the week, and he will be turning in his resignation shortly.  House took that time to tell Wilson that if he does, it would be an idiotic decision to make. (The word “idiot” was used about 30 times this episode.)  Cuddy told House that in order to keep Wilson working there, he would have to actually have a heart and tell Wilson that he is sorry for what happened to his girlfriend and he felt like crap.  House decided to act like the child that he is and continued calling Wilson an idiot.  He even left the hospital saying he won’t return unless Wilson stays, leaving his team working alone on this case.

He came back to the hospital when Cuddy somehow managed to turn off his cable.  After he, Wilson, and Cuddy had a counceling session, House realized that Cuddy was right.  He went to Wilson in a last effort, he told him that he was sorry, that he felt guilty for what happened to Amber.  Wilson told him that he never blamed him, that he wanted to, but he couldn’t.  In fact he blamed himself for what happened, that it should have been him on the bus instead of her.  About two seconds later, he corrected himself saying House should have been on the bus alone.  Then he totally burned House saying they aren’t friends anymore, and that they never were.

I have to say.  I love House, I’m glad he’s back to our television screens but, you start to feel bad for the guy after 4 years.  Nothing good ever happens to him.  Oh well!  See you next week, peace out!

House – Wilson’s Heart (Pt. 2) Recap

Posted in House on May 20, 2008 by awsumdave

House promo 1

Tonight marked the season finale of House, and might I come right out and say, what a fantastic episode! The episode started off right where last week ended, so let’s get started!

House and Wilson are at the hospital that Amber was transported to. Together, they are trying to diagnose Ambers problem. With no luck, they haul her to an ambulance to the best hospital in the world, House’s hospital. On the way to the hospital, Wilson wonders why House was with her that night, but of course, House still has his case of acute amnesia, so he can’t recall. Wilson decides that in order to keep her stabalized, and to give House time to think, Ambers body temperature needs to be brought down, so that is what they do.

House thinking

While House is trying to think, Dr. Taub thinks that House may be having an affair with Amber. When House said that that wasn’t possible, Taub said it could have been the first time. Meanwhile, 13 and Kutner are searching through Wilson’s house for more clues. Quick question: Why don’t they just get Wilson to search his own house?

House has another encounter with his hallucination buddy, Amber. This time, she is being very seductive, and pouring House a particular glass of wine, and said something about electricity. This is when House woke up and realized what he needed to do next. He said he needed an electric shock to help him get his memories back. Cuddy plain and simple told him no, his brain couldn’t handle it.

When 13 and Kutner got back they showed everyone what they found. They found a vitamin bottle with some prescription drugs inside. Which meant she might be an addict. On the operating table, Amber’s eyes were turning yellow, which meant her liver was failing.

House decides to go down memory lane, and takes Wilson with him. Together, they go to the bar House went to last episode. He asked the bartender if he saw Amber with him that night, he said yeah, and it looked like she was fighting a cold. This was pretty funny. House than asked the bartender if he happened to see the color of Amber’s snot. The bartender said,

Bartender

“No man, I didn’t look at your girlfriend’s boogers.”

LOL. So more references to the possibility that House and Amber could have been having an affair.

At the hospital, Amber visited House again to give him yet, another clue. The team was about to diagnose her with the wrong thing, so she showed House a bruise/rash on her backside. House took this as a sign that he may be starting to remember.

House than visits 13 in the ladies room, and confronts her about a problem she has been having. House knew that she was having a tough time coping with the fact that a formal co-worker and friend is dying, which resurfaced 13’s problem that I almost forgot about, the Huntington’s disease. House told her he knew she couldn’t work on this case, and to pack her things.

Chase

Foreman thinks House is going to end up killing Amber, and brings that to Cuddy. So together, they bring up Amber’s body temperature, so they can shock her. This ends up ticking Wilson off, as it turns out Cuddy and Foreman were wrong, whatever was wrong with Amber was now spreading to her brain.

Wilson does what he thinks is necessary next. He asks House, as a friend, to risk his life to save Ambers, and go ahead with the procedure of shocking House’s brain. Here’s what we learn:

  • House got his keys taken away at the bar, so he calls Wilson for a ride. Wilson, however, was on call that night, so Amber had to pick him up instead.
  • When Amber sneezed we saw that her snot was normal looking.
  • On the bus, House forgot his cane, so Amber got on the bus as well, to give him his cane.
  • While still on the bus, Amber complains about a cold she’s having, and pops some pills. House said she has Amantadine poisoning, and there is nothing they can do to save her. Then bus crash happens, and back at the hospital, House seizes.

So Chase wakes Amber up so Wilson can say goodbye one last time. This scene was really emotional. Not only this scene, but pretty much this point forward, I could see people tearing up from these last scenes. The whole team comes by to say goodbye, and Amber doesn’t seem upset as she dies. Wilson turns off the bypass, and cried alone by her side.

Inside House’s head, he is on a heavenly bus. On the bus, he is sitting next to Amber, and they talk for a little bit. He says he does not want to leave. He doesn’t want Wilson to be upset with him. But Amber simply told him, you don’t always get what you want. So House left the bus, and woke up from his little coma. To his side, Cuddy was there comforting him. House looked so depressed. He looked like he was blaming himself for Ambers death. Even Wilson stepped into the room later, but couldn’t bring himself to talk to House.

In the end, 13 had a test done to see if she had Huntington’s. The test came back positive for Huntingtons. Man what a depressing episode, but they did it so perfectly. The acting was so good in this episode. You got to love season finales! I don’t, however, enjoy the long breaks! My only remaining question is, will House be blaming himself for Amber’s death next season, and how is this turn of events going to change the friendship House and Wilson have? I guess we’ll see. Peace out!

House: House’s Head (Pt. 1) – Recap

Posted in House on May 13, 2008 by awsumdave

This week in House, we really were presented with an astounding episode! And of course, it was a two-parter. Let’s get started with the recap of “House’s Head.”

Of course, the episode did in fact start out on a close-up shot of Dr. House’s face. He looked real dazed and confused. He didn’t quite know where he was. He was in a night club. As the audience, we ask ourselves, how did he get there? We really don’t know till the end of the episode, because House has lost some of his memory. While sitting there he realizes that someone is dying. There was some sort of accident, and somebody, somewhere, is in trouble. He needs to find out, so he leaves the club, and walks into the scene of an accident. Cue the opening sequence!

Back at the hospital he is trying to explain himself to his team. He is saying that somebody is hurt right now, and all they can say is, “Well, duh! It was a bus accident afterall!” House explains that he remembered seeing a symptom before the accident happened. To find out some more clues, he went to see the bus driver, who was also injured. The bus driver had a purple mark on his neck, which led House to make his first guess.

Guess 1: Bus Driver – Lukemia

House believed it was lukemia, but his team quikly dismounted that theory saying that the mark was simply just a seat belt bruise.

So to retrieve some memories, House underwent some hypnotism. This was pretty interesting. We get to see into his mind. Here’s what we learn:

  • House went to a local bar.
  • At the bar, House drank a little too much, so the bartender told him he had to take the bus.
  • On the bus there is a kid who was picking his nose.

Guess 2: Punk Kid

House thinks that because he picked his nose, he was going to die. A two second test proved otherwise.

Meanwhile, the bus driver loses the feeling in his legs. This happened on last week’s episode of House. I’m telling you, House is cursed! House decides to smell the clothes of the injured people for more clues.

Smells like a banana smoothie.

suddenly found himself in a hallucination again. Here’s what we learn:

  • There is a mysterious woman on the bus. House tells here that she wasn’t on the bus, because she is wearing 500 dollar shoes. So something is up with that.

Wilson snaps House out of it, to take a cat scan. House says he was hit in the head, so he’s bound to be a little screwed up. To which Cuddy says the best line of the episode, “This isn’t just a boo boo!”

When House’s ear begins to bleed, he decides to take a bath. In the bath, he is tossed into another hallucination. Here’s what we learn:

  • On the bus, the bus driver had a limp, and House believed he saw the man jerk, or spasm.

House woke up from his bath time, and threw up on Cuddy’s shoe.

Guess 3: Bus Driver – Parkinson’s Disease
To make a long story short, it wasn’t Parkinson’s. They already had tests that proved it.

Guess 4: Bus Driver
I didn’t catch the fourth guess, but it had something to do with eating bagels. And when he collapsed, it apparently wasn’t that.

Guess 5: Bus Driver – Air bubble.
House kidnapped the man when he made his final guess, an air bubble. Before Cuddy could stop him, he had 13 inject the man into the heart. And surprise surprise. House was right.

That night, House learned that the mysterious woman was still in fact haunting House. Haha, I said haunting house (haunted house). Anyways… This meant the bus driver was not the right person. The bus driver wasn’t dying. The mysterious woman was trying to give House clues. She gave him a scarf, to which he automatically wrapped around her leg, which was now bleeding. Hmm.

House now brings all his team members together into a bus, to reenact the scene of the accident. Also, to help out hallucinations, he took some Alzheimer pills. Almost immediately, he went into a super hallucination, here’s what we learn this time:

  • The mysterious woman came back. She was wearing a necklace. “What is my necklace made of?” She asked. “Who am I?” She said these two things over and over again until House got it. The woman was Amber. Amber! Holy crap!

The next scene was absolutely breath taking. The whole thing was also in slow motion. The bus driver started swerving. Amber fell. The bus flipped over as it crashed into the truck. People flying everywhere. All the while House is watching as Amber is screaming. After the crash, There is a pole stuck inside Amber’s leg. House ties her scarf around it, and passes out.

Amazing, on the bus, Wilson and Cuddy are performing CPR on House, after his heart stopped. He woke up and told everyone the news. Amber was the one on the bus. She is the one dying. End part one.

So now we are left wondering whats going to happen to Amber. More importantly, what is the symptom that is apparently killing Amber? It can’t be just because of the accident. House said he knew she had a symptom before the accident occurred. Oh man, all I can say is, I can’t wait for next weeks episode!

House: Living the Dream Recap

Posted in House on May 6, 2008 by awsumdave

In this episode, House does what he does best, lose his mind! House decides to take it to the next level with his craziness by kidnapping a famous tv star. The TV star plays a doctor on a soap opera, that apparently, House loves. He thinks that because his reading capability was worsening on the show, he has a vision imparement, which would mean cancer. This is House’s reasoning for kidnapping a man.

So vision problems is the first guess of the show tonight. So the actor complies when House agrees to leave him alone forever if he’s wrong. House does a few tests, and it turns out, the tests say he’s fine. House, however is not convinced. He catches up to the actor in the elevator and drugs him, so he can give him an MRI. So he does give him a MRI, and surprise surprise, this test also turned up negative for any problems. So on the way out of the hospital, fate reaches the guy as his legs give out. Maybe House is just cursed…

Guess 2:
I didn’t catch the second guess, it just went by too fast. All I know was Kumar (Kutner) was poking the actors legs in the next scene. Obviously trying to find out what the problem is.

Guess 3: B-6
B-6 is something I am not going to describe in great detail, because its unnesecary, because the tests cane up negative as he started to have a heart attack.

Guess 4: Grave’s Disease
What’s interesting about this show, is, even though you have no idea what all these diseases even mean, you are still captivated. I don’t know what Grave’s Disease is, but House says they are going to have to burn his thiroids. The team decided to test if his thiroids were ok before they nuke them. Again, test goes wrong as his thiroids are fine. Then the iodine they injected into him started poisoning him. His kidneys started failing.

Guess 5: Auto-Immune disease
Since they were wrong again, it had to be an auto-immune disease right? Wrong. The actor then started to turn into his character as his brain started to boil. Ew. Brain stew.

Guess 6. Allergy
House then saves the day with the last guess. He says its an allergy and hits him up with 100mg of some drug that I can’t pronounce. I think its steroids. Surprise surprise, House is right, and he saved the day.

As always there were the side stories. One side story was about Wilson and Cuthroat (Amber) trying to find a new bed. Causing them to fail two times. How hard is it to pick a mattress, seriously? Then the other side story was about an inspector keeping a close eye on everything that was going on in the episode. Which he happened to be in a scene where, I think, the funniest line of the episode happened. The inspector greeted House saying, “Yes, I’ve heard your name before.” To which House replied, “Yeah, a lot of people have, its also a noun.” Gotta love House!

On a separate note, next week looks like its going to be really good! We’ll have to see how that plays out! Peace out!

House – “No More Mr. Nice Guy” Recap

Posted in House on April 29, 2008 by awsumdave

House started back up this week with ” No More Mr. Nice Guy.” The episode started off as an obvious joke off of the Writers Strike. I don’t remember what the were on strike about, but that is unimportant. An angry UPS worker comes up and Jeff, the happy man tries to give old grouchy UPS man a hug. That’s when Jeff fainted. Cue the intro credits:

House is sitting down in the ER after the beginning credits end. He notices Jeff, and asks “What’s with the idiot?” House finds that it is strange to not complain about anything, so he gathers his team together to try to give the man a name for his medical disorder that causes him to be happy. Hilarious. So while his team tries to find out what’s with Mr. Happy, House and Trace go bowling.

This scene accomplished nothing. The two discuss happiness, and how there can’t be too much. What the scene really indicated, was that House sucks at bowling, and Trace is a sharp shooter.

So House shows up at Wilson’s house next. He just wants to hang out, but Cut-throat doesn’t want them to. So they make an agreement when to hang out. Boring scene.

Then, of course, the team needs to break into the patients house to look for some kind of clue as to what is causing this man to love life. These are the scenes I never understand. How can they break-in? Do they get the patients permission? No, probably not. Oh well, its still entertaining.

So the first guess in many this episode for Mr. Happy’s problem. House guesses it is…. Williams Syndrome. Of course we find out the first guess is wrong when Mr. Happy starts seizing while singing badly to his wife.

Guess 2: Syphilis
Kumar from Harold & Kumar (Kutner) confirmed it was syphilis and asked the wife privately if she had an affair. She said no. Later found out not syphilis

Guess 3. Hepatitis
So the group decides he doesn’t have syphilis, but House does. Which explains why he is always angry. So they confront him and give him pills.

Guess 4:
Foreman guesses it is PFO. What the crap is that?

House pulls Wilson aside and tells him he switched out his blood to make it look like he had syphilis, so he would act nicer. Cut-throat then tells the team later on. So much for a perfect plan.

Guess 5:
Final guess made by House. Something called chagas. chagas is apparently a parasite, and is treatable. And they lived happily ever after. Or not. The end scene was cut-throat and House changing a old mans poopy diaper.

So another good House episode. Keep it up, FOX. Peace out!
