IN PLAIN SIGHT: A Fine Meth Recap

Posted in In Plain Sight on August 18, 2008 by awsumdave

This episode started off right where last weeks left off. Mary is still coping with the fact that she was kidnapped, and was forced to kill a man. Also, Mary’s sister is under close observation in a serious murder investigation, not to mention the amount of drugs she carried in her suitcase.

You see, Mary has a problem. She works for the US Marshalls, so she has an obligation to turn in her sister if she confessed anything. Mary’s mother got pretty ticked about that fact. She thought it was terrible that Mary would turn her own flesh and blood in to the police.

This episode had a lot of issues I actually didn’t like about it. For instance, even though it did show some really great character building, I thought the fight between Mary and her mother and sister was a bit drawn out. It was great at first, and then it was like an opposite chick-bonding moment gone bad. Another thing I thought was stupid was the fact the Mary was freaking out over the fact she killed someone. I may be wrong, but aren’t you a US Marshall. I figured she has been there done that.

So after Mary’s boyfriend visited her home drunk, he told her something that she took to heart. He told her that Brandi, her sister, was afraid they would lose their relationship. He said “will you just tell her? Just tell her that you are still her sister?” Which is what gave Mary the idea to finally help out her sister in this situation she got herself into. So she took her sisters suitcase and left the house, only to be stopped by a dozen police units. After going though the suitcase and only finding clothes, Mary was in the clear.

So where was the meth? Mary secretly handed it off to her boyfriend, who transformed it to the white sidelines in baseball. That was brilliant if I must say. Though you have to wonder, if the players slide in face first all the time, you’d think some meth would get into their system. Oh well, minor detail.

Well this was it, the season finale! I actually enjoyed last weeks episode better, but this weeks was just as good, peace out!

IN PLAIN SIGHT: Stan By Me Recap

Watch full episodes of “In Plain Sight” HERE

While this episode may have started off like any other “In Plain Sight” episode, it actually had a lot of stuff to it. The episode starts off with the ‘witness’ like always, but then something happened, and the witness went missing. That, however, was not really what the episode was about.

The episode was really about Mary getting kidnapped! Now, how only two men could take on a trained government official is beyond me, but they did. At first, you wonder why they took her, or what they wanted. It’s revealed about halfway in that it was a mistake. The original plan was to kidnap Brandy.

It was revealed in an earlier episode that Brandy went back to her hometown to deal drugs. When times got troubled, Brandy fled without dealing the drugs, and hoped it would all be over. This episode was a continuation from that episode. The men who kidnapped Mary, threatened to kill her if Brandy didn’t show up with the drugs.

When Brandy never showed up, Mary tried to stall time by offering her captures a good amount of money. Unfortunately, just after her offer, her cover as a US Marshall was blown. So before her head was blown away, Mary got herself free, and was saved by her friends with the US Marshalls.

Also, we got to see Mary’s mother sing a song for a play she is in. I don’t think this is a very important aspect to the series, but It’s still fun to watch.

I actually enjoyed this episode a lot. The format was done differently then the classic “In Plain Sight” episode. It’s always enjoyable to see a main character get kidnapped. Apparently there is only one episode left in the season, and it looks like one heck of an episode! See you then, peace out!

TV REWIND: In Plain Sight: Season 1 (So far)

“In Plain Sight” is USA’s newest detective series. I don’t know why, but USA loves mystery shows. It’s what drives the network. Is that a complaint? No, not at all, they know how to make a show entertaining. That being said, I have found myself up to speed with this drama, and my analysis of the show is that it’s actually pretty good.

The show revolves around Mary Shannon, whose job is a US Marshall. Her job is to place people into witness protection. There really aren’t a whole lot of shows these days about witness protection. It’s good sometimes for a change. At first, I thought the performances weren’t even done that great. Now after I am caught up, I have warmed up to their acting, and now I actually enjoy it.

Initially, I didn’t like the show at all. The pilot episode in a series is the episode that is supposed to grab the audience’s attention, not thwart it. I hated the pilot, just because it was so confusing. There may be others who actually enjoyed it, but I found myself confused.

When a premier episode isn’t that great, I’ve been given the suggestion not to judge a show by its first episode, but by its first three episodes. Let me pass that advice onto you. Well, now that I’m caught up with the series, you can expect to see regular recaps and reviews of each episode. Peace out!
